I have lived in Ocala since 1962. I graduated from Ocala High School, became a Police Officer and later a Deputy Sheriff. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree from Rollins College. After 14 years in law enforcement, I decided to go to law school. I attended law school at the Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
I came back to Ocala after graduation and have practiced law as an Assistant State Attorney, Public Defender and 21 years in private practice, prosecuting and defending all types of cases and appeals. I have completed several hundred trials to verdict in State and Federal Courts throughout central Florida, and more than 50 appeals in State and Federal appellate courts, including one at the U.S. Supreme Court, with the help of two other attorneys.
In November of 2006, I was elected as a Circuit Court Judge, where I served for 15 years full time and 3 years part time. In December of 2024 I resumed my position as a private practice attorney and continue in that position today.
